an icon for change and development of the american culture, barack obama is the greatest thing to happen in american politics since jfk (the first catholic president, whoa). i wonder what kind of change we can expect when the leader told us, "yes we can"? well considering american has been lead (and i use the term loosely) by a man who exploited a nation, no more than he did when he was the ceo of an oil company before entering the political arena, means theres plenty of change to be had. when having the conversation with most people it almost seems like theres the expectation a wand will be waved and all will be well again for the economy global relations.
the truth is obama is walking into an office thats elbow deep in shit and is going to take a big shovel and a lot of lysol wipes to clean the place up. what i wonder is if obama decides to clean up with quick sweeping reform or with patient persistent diplomacy. what's more so, i wonder if the public will be readily praise and support the actual change that is applied as much as they did the electoral ideal. i can be sure that he will most certainly be remembered in american history, possibly as much as abe lincoln is remembered, either as a leader he achieved exactly what he set out to do, or a schister who failed a nation, if not the world.
i think it says somewhere in the bible suffering is good for the soul. i just hope it's not for 4 more years.
